AGEISS Helps Document Early Boulder History

Boulder’s KGNU News team interviewed AGEISS archaeologist Joel Tyberg about artifacts uncovered during construction of the Trinity Commons development in Boulder’s downtown historic district. In consultation with the Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, Tyberg was on hand to document and preserve historical artifacts and features uncovered during excavation. Part of the property once belonged to Andrew Macky, an early Colorado gold rush settler and founder of Boulder’s first bank.

Tyberg explained the purpose of the monitoring, described artifacts uncovered during construction, and helped listeners know more about the early beginnings of the city and the people who gave it its start.  Listen below

AGEISS provided archaeological monitoring, environmental reviews, and other assistance for hundreds of recovery projects. We helped the State of Colorado expedite distribution of $63M in aid under the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery program. The aid helped Colorado Front Range communities recover from catastrophic flooding in September 2013.
